This is just stunning...I love the shallow depth of field and how it brings out the detail of the flower. I also love the snowflakes, or perhaps they are falling stars.

@JamesC: thx! I tried to background the gum ball against the dark tree trunk. The white areas are snow on the ground. I was standing on a step stool, hand held @ 1:2 in a thunder snow with 25 mph gusts. [hilarious] When the lightening and thunder started, I ran inside, only got three frames : ] Half inch of snow in less than ten minutes, then it turned into a skating rink, with snow over black ice and crashes everywhere. A most unusual day.

i really like this. i wish we had a companion pic of you taking it. (i think these are what we call "monkey balls" for some reason - sounds completely bizarre, possibly obscene now that i think about it.)

I really like the detail of the tiny snowflakes falling around it. Very delicate looking image, although clearly not taken in delicate surroundings!
