Jean-François from LES ISSAMBRES, Francelovely light ......................................... !!!!! 10 Jan 2009 5:22am @rem_la: ouch!!! roentarre from Melbourne, AustraliaThis one has the feel of drama. Good story telling facade! 10 Jan 2009 8:09am Richard_Irwin from Belper, United KingdomAn incredible sense of winter light here, the shadows across the road are wonderful. 10 Jan 2009 12:40pm Robert from Kingsville, CanadaAll conversation ceases when the 1:15 goes by ! Nice shot . 10 Jan 2009 12:58pm @Robert: thx! It shakes the China for certain. This was once a small station in horse and wagon days where farmers brought their products for transport to the big cities 15 miles away. I always found the off-center windows in the end wall an anomaly. hugo poon from hong kong, Hong KongYour angle to compose and signature b&w tone have made this an expressive and evocative image! 10 Jan 2009 2:01pm EYES WIDE SHUT from The library of my soul, United KingdomA corker. Very nicely observed 10 Jan 2009 3:35pm @twodot: thx! At the intersection of two narrow [one vehicle] lanes in the middle of nowhere. alex centrella from California, United Statesit doesn't get any better than this ! 10 Jan 2009 9:10pm @alex centrella: thx! alex, miss CA about this time of year : ] Steve Rice from Olympia, United StatesLet's hope people obey the sign. Can't recall which one but it reminds me of a scene from a 1940s movie. 10 Jan 2009 10:55pm JamesC from portland, United StatesIt's my highlight waiting for your new posting and this one doesn't disappoint. Excellent gray tone, no blowouts and just pleasant to look at. Very nice leading from the road straight up to the stop sign and then the house. And those pair of track track signal "eyes", the trees and the wonderful clouds and sky. 85mm again? Something I would have never thought possible, but you done so well again and again, I'm beginning to be a believer. 11 Jan 2009 12:49am @JamesC: thx! A cotton ball sky softened the highlights and shadows, this is full frame with no crop. No, I would have not considered an 85mm for landscape, it makes for a heavy walk around lense, though I have been know to take portraits with 35 so consider the source. I bought the 5D with the 24-105, then monitored the EXIF to discover 35, 85, and 105 macro [like] were near my typical focus points with the zoom. I replaced the 24-105 with faster primes in 35, 85, 180 [real] macro. Fishit from Tealtown, United StatesNice mood, agree with GJC, love these old houses, less and less of these all the time. 11 Jan 2009 1:31pm |
