This is a beautiful image. I was wondering, while I contemplated its beauty if it might be helped by making better use of the negative space, that is to say, move the branch down to, say, the bottom third of the frame and allow the upper two thirds to remain empty. The sharpness and the color of the awakening bud, the symbolism of spring, the awakening, the re-awakening would go so well with the selective focus you so effectively used. My attempt at such a use of negative space can be seen here.

@Jed: Agreed...shot it too damn tight [a tendency of mine, with this lense in particular.] It's behind the house so I can easily re-shoot it wider. I liked the upward turn of the branch, just didn't give it room to breathe top right. best...jerry
