dappled sunsetPosted by ordinaryimages (Kentucky Bluegrass, United States) on 27 April 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. After a late client meeting, I rushed out a country lane to catch the last of a killer orange sunset streaming through a horse barn. If any image appears too dark on your monitor I would appreciate hearing about it. Creative Commons Attribution | Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 | United States License

Matt Sutton from Sydney, Australiamy work monitor is crap here but it looks great jerry, maybe a tad dark, but well done, I love the sky and the balance with the mare and the white dotted flowers on the ground (or whatever they are) 27 Apr 2009 6:41am @Matt Sutton: Thanks! Them's dandelions, peak season for the rascals. Paco Díaz from Palma de Mallorca, SpainGreat light in (or from!) the horse in this dark landscape. The sky is beautiful and the scene is not "too" dark in my monitor. 27 Apr 2009 6:46am @Paco Díaz: Thanks! Perhaps I will post a color image Wednesday. JamesC from portland, United StatesLooks great on my laptop, IMO. Beautiful sunset. 27 Apr 2009 6:57am @JamesC: Thanks! Zing from Hamilton, New ZealandBeautiful light, looks so magical with that horse there. 27 Apr 2009 7:18am @Zing: Thanks! I went out to shoot some magical light and found a magical mare. "Marie" :-) from perth, AustraliaGreat shot, I love the dappled horse and the trees, but have to be honest the fences are what make this a great shot for me....... love how the trees are in the narrow lines between the fields fenced off..... wonder why this is..... great shot. 27 Apr 2009 8:18am @"Marie" :-): Thanks! This area is known for it's plank fences. What you see are paddocks separated from other paddocks with walk ways in between for quick access to the mares, or to separate stallions. This mare would be on a 24/7 foal watch at Nuckols Farm, home of War Emblem 2002 Derby and Preakness winner. Sometimes the plank fences themselves are worthy subjects. Giovanni from Milan, ItalySuch a wonderful scenery!! It looks great even on my laptop. 27 Apr 2009 9:35am jeff (aka dogilicious) from Millerstown, PA, United StatesExcellent shot. I like the way the flowers pop in black and white. 27 Apr 2009 10:32am @jeff (aka dogilicious): dandelions : ] Scene by Sharon Photography from Kingston, Ontario, Canadathese black and white landscape scenes are absolutely wonderful !! 27 Apr 2009 10:35am @Virgil: You and I should live so well, she's about to pop. Viewfinder from Bradenton, FL, United StatesAwesome, another in what I think of as "accidental masterpieces" that come as a surprise and blessing. This is absolutely beautiful. 27 Apr 2009 11:31am @Viewfinder: Thanks! Interesting how often another shot exist behind my back. I have begun to check. Roman from Thunder Bay, CanadaReally fine b&w image, very peaceful. A bit too dark, although it might just be my monitor. cheers 27 Apr 2009 1:43pm @Roman: Thanks Roman! I work in gamma 1.8 but try to accommodate 2.2, or something like that. hugo poon from hong kong, Hong KongThe subtle tone makes it even more graceful!:-) Just love it! 27 Apr 2009 2:26pm Steve Cody from United StatesIt's too dark on the screen at work, Jerry...for what THAT'S worth... 27 Apr 2009 5:31pm @Steve Cody: Thanks! fwiw Steve is my bricks and mortar camera salesman [antagonist and friend] He is viewing on a checkout monitor that Don dug out of a dumpster behind Costco. But...we aim to please. I plan on shooting at lot at dusk and I want everyone to be able to see into the shadows. Condemna from Barcelona, AndorraBeautiful shot, but a bit too dark for my taste... 27 Apr 2009 6:10pm @Condemna: Thanks! appreciate the comment. Note to file...one click lighter...dusk not dark. Chris Parr from Jefferson City, United StatesI love the way the sunset is framed between the two trees with the horse just off center. Really nicely composed and not too dark for my tastes. 27 Apr 2009 8:38pm Didier DE ZAN from somewhere, FranceVery beautiful photogrpah I Like the atmosphere 28 Apr 2009 4:45am Magda from Vancouver, CanadaFabulous! It is a bit dark but I love it. Gives it nice character. 28 Apr 2009 5:21am john4jack from Corvallis, Oregon, United StatesTerrific composition. I love the fences. 28 Apr 2009 9:45pm shallowregret from Kongsberg, Norwaygreat shot, darkness works well and detail still showing 29 Apr 2009 5:38pm Fishit from Tealtown, United StatesThe light on these are hard to balance, sky or foreground. 30 Apr 2009 1:35am Fred from Manila, PhilippinesThis is very dramatic! It feels like the horse is so alone because even the leaves from trees are starting to fall of and leaving him too. Very moving I must say. Although maybe this could use a little more brightness/exposure on the left and right trees so that some details could be revealed. NEVERTHELESS, beautiful capture! 27 Oct 2009 9:12pm |
