blue bells and hogweed

We have four seasons in Kentucky: Slick, Mud, Mow'in, and Drought. We're smack dab in every five days Mow'in! Caught these near dark, while still in my sweaty work clothes. I don't know this volunteer, but it's pastel blue, has a bulb, and is 6-8" tall.

I had a lot of questions this past week to the effect: "What is a photoblog?" My reply was it's people and pictures! explaining that I use the photoblog for the challenge of shooting daily for tomorrows post, exchanging low key banter, and for viewing images from days and places I will never see. I do not use Am3 as a gallery, critique forum, or list mail. I'm simply grateful for the hello...What say you?

As to your other question, I also do it for the challenge. It has helped me become more familiar with my equipment and develop my eye simply by forcing me to take lots of pictures. I also learn much from seeing what other folks do. Aside from the learning, this photoblog is a community. A chance to interact with people worldwide who share an interest.

Jerry, this is amazing! The framing of the flowers and your chosen depth of field is magic. This is just stunning, 5 stars. How do you get that silver finish with your black and white images?

@bluechameleon: Thanks Sharon! Kentucky [native american for a dark and bloody ground] light has a certain atmospheric signature. I attribute the glow to shooting late when the almost un-decernable light and shadows are softer, Canon glass which is creamier, and plus EV's so I can darken the shadow in Lightroom without incurring noise. The low light requires shooting off a tripod w/ mirror lockup and remote release for the closeups. The effect is retained when printed on matte mounted under glass.

A photoblog is my little vacation from reality, to go strolling through many fine art galleries online and say nice things to folks. And have nice things said to me :-). More mystically, it is a stream of images moving through time...

Hello Jerry! :-) low key banter works for me - I wish I would find the time to shoot everyday for the blog, for me my blog is a walk down memory lane to better times when I can actually get out there and shoot, and a chance to share those memories, someday I hope to do as you do and post each day from what I shot the day before. For now I find my peace in viewing photos from around the world and getting away from my existence for just a little while. Another beautiful image by the way - Debbie
