tobacco barns

This snap is significant only in that indicates the scale of yesterday's barn. A normal family affair Burly tobacco barn is 8-12 bents, there are [4] 40 bent barns on this property! Tobacco farming is on it's way out...moved to South America in this instance.

Hummm. Tobacco farms on their way out. Sounds like good news-bad news, depending on your point of view (and occupation.) I'm glad to read this explanation of the barns and see how they look...in your B&W, they look quite interesting, by the way.

This is a beautiful shot. I used to pass tons of this barns traveling south through PA and Georgia but now they aren't there. The Amish even used to grow tobacco as a major crop but no longer. I always loved watching it grow because I like what the plants looked like. This picture is very nostalgic for me. Thanks!
