An amazing photo of this noisy critter's old skin. We don't have them out here. There were lots in the Mid-West though and interestingly in Hiroshima. The ones in Hiroshima were just as loud but had a different "song".

These casings gave me hours of enjoyment when I was a kid. I really enjoy the detail shot you have here. There is wonderful contrast between the body and the leaf.
