The daily photoblog is the great arbitrator of a photographic journey. I usually post a shot from the day...contrasted by a portfolio assembled from a body of work. It would be nice to present a portfolio quality image every day...but...therein lies the challenge : ]

And why, then, did this not make it into the portfolio? It's a hauntingly beautiful shot. And if YOU can't take a portfolio shot every day, then there is no hope for the rest of us mortals....

@GJC: : ] : ] While I enjoy the compositional elements, I'm not pleased with the top of this frame - trees and sky. The trees are blocked, the sky is flat and featureless, and I would like to see more definition of the water drops falling on the pool of water. I could have Photoshopped all that, but the challenge of this page is to minimally process in Lightroom. I truly believe we are all only one snap away from a portfolio image, however arbitrary the definition.

Very good composition. The line of the fence drives the eye in depth., and the spot of water introduces its light in the center of the photo. Very good n/w and balance of lights.

I agree with your words today. I have pondered whether to go with a great picture but not everyday or an everyday but sometimes ordinary shot. I would say that your shots are never "ordinary."

Your words have struck home with me today. I feel that your image are all portfolio worthy, but we are our own worst critics. The shot is so wonderful in contrasts and tones. As always they take me somewhere outside of myself and that is the sign of a fantastic photographer.
I've been finding it impossible (lately) to be able to keep up the 'daily' posting. Between too much work and hot weather, there just has not been much time or inspiration here for me. I commend those that can do this!
